KARELA FRY

Karela fry is a popular bitter gourd dish, usually made alongside a lentil curry or as a main dish. It is particularly known for its rich flavour, and pairs well with rice or bread.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 3 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Large onion, thinly sliced
  • 300g Surya Sliced Karela (Bitter Gourd)
  • Salt as per taste
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp Redchilli powder
  • ½ tsp Coriander powder
  • ¼ tsp Amchur powder
METHOD:
  • Heat the oil in a deep wok.
  • Reduce the heat to medium and add in the sliced onions. Sauté until lightly browned.
  • Add frozen karela and sauté on slow heat.
  • Next, add salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and mix everything. Cover with a lid and cook until the karela softens, stirring occasionally.
  • Lastly, add coriander powder and amchur powder, mix well and turn the heat off. Cover with the lid and let it sit for 2 minutes.
  • Serve hot with delicious dal chawal, as a side dish, or as a main dish with chapattis for a wholesome meal.
